Dennis Morlin Danielson

December 30, 1930 - April 3, 2011

Dennis Morlin Danielson, 80, of Janesville, WI passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 surrounded by family at Harbor House in Janesville following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Dennis was born on December 30, 1930 in Duluth, MN, the son of Daniel Arthur and Inga Marie (Pederson) Danielson. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Middle East and Europe and received the Air Medal for meritorious achievement in air flight in December of 1954. He married Dianne Margaret Lundstrom on August 18, 1956 in Duluth, MN. Dennis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1961 from University of Minnesota-Duluth. He later received a Master’s degree in Entomology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and did doctoral work at University of Wisconsin – Madison. While there, he served as a teaching assistant. After moving to Janesville in 1967, Dennis was employed as a research entomologist by Libby‘s, Seneca Foods, Nestle and retired from Chipman. He received the Research Entomologist of the Year award though the National Entomology Society and served on the first State of Wisconsin Pesticide Board. Dennis was a member of First Lutheran Church, a charter member of Sons of Norway Nordland Lodge # 544 and a member of Janesville Western Star Lodge # 55, F. & A.M.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Dianne Danielson, 3 children, Theresa (Bruce) Wimann of Baraboo, WI, Denise (David) Wimann of Janesville, Robert (Anna) Danielson of Janesville, 3 grandchildren, Dennis Wimann, Daniel Wimann, Dayna Wimann, his brother, David (Carol) Danielson of Duluth, MN, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, aunts , uncles and cousins in Sweden and a special cousin in law, Dale Lundstrom. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Floyd Lundstrom and brother-in-law, Donald Lundstrom.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, 602 N. Randall Ave., Janesville with Rev. James Melvin officiating. Military honors by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621 will follow the services at the church. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 8th at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Masonic rites will be held at 5:30 p.m Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Duluth, MN at Park Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church Foundation.
